WHY NUTRITIOUS MEALS?
Malnutrition and undernutrition exacerbate poverty through reduced immunological capacities to defend against disease, increased healthcare costs, and most insidiously, impaired intellectual development that can significantly reduce earning potential. Thus, poverty, undernutrition, and ill health are passed down from generation to generation.
Tackling malnutrition after those formative critical years can prove futile in reversing long term damage. This is why S4CF is investing in providing nutritious meals to high-risk children, including children with disabilities, children living in shelters and orphanages, and children in crisis situations. Improving dietary and nutritional intake can be more effective than disease prevention.
WHY SCHOOL FEES?
A child's ability to attend school is often determined by factors present before their birth-location, gender, disability, conflict, and poverty.
Over 120 million children are denied access to the basic human right of a formal education, often throwing them into intergenerational cycles of disadvantage. S4CF is working to turn this statistic around by providing school fees for children in Uganda, Nepal and Peru.
Every minute, the equivalent of 27 soccer fields of forests are cleared. Half of the world's tropical rainforests are gone. Not only are we seeing the extinction of unique species in our world, but we depend on trees to clean the air we breathe and filter the water we drink. S4CF is invested in preserving the earth for future generations by participating in tree replanting and regrowth projects worldwide.
